Today, Phil Steele released his list of the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. Several OU players found their way on the various teams, and the Sooners led the way with 7 overall on the 1st Team.
1st Team:
Landry Jones (QB), Ryan Broyles (WR & PR), Ben Habern (C), Ronnell Lewis (DL)*, Travis Lewis (LB) and Demontre Hurst (CB)
2nd Team:
Brandon Williams (RB)**, Kenny Stills (WR), Gabe Ikard (OG), Frank Alexander (DL), Jamarkus McFarland (DL), Jamell Fleming (CB), Aaron Colvin (S), Tress Way (P)
3rd Team:
James Hanna, Austin Box***
4th Team:
Corey Nelson, Jimmy Stevens
* - Interesting to note Ronnell Lewis' inclusion on the 1st team as a Defensive End. He had a big impact towards the end of last year, and if he continues to build on that he could have an All-American type season.
** - Easily the biggest shock on this list for me, Brandon Williams without playing a down, is on the 2nd team. I don't remember being blown away with him in the Red/White game, but clearly Phil is expecting big things from this true Freshman. It's also very curious to see Roy Finch absent from the list, I would have expected him to show up before Williams.
*** - With his funeral held today, several players have tweeted out how heartbroken they are to see Austin Box gone. He was in the position to have a tremendous Senior season, it's a tragedy that he is no longer with us.
