Dan Tapko Leaves OU

Dan Tapko, a "touted freshman tight end who had been at Oklahoma this summer for workouts, has left the Sooners," the Tulsa World reports.
"'It was a tough decision and it was made for medical and personal reasons that would have made my life really difficult trying to go to school and play football,' Tapko told SoonerScoop.com Sunday.
"Tapko said a knee injury sustained at Kansas City Rockhurst High School was not behind his decision."
Tapko "was rated the top high school prospect in Missouri while starring for Rockhurst."
"Tapko was projected as a college tight end, but his departure doesn't appear to leave OU in a lurch at that position. The Sooners signed Max Stevenson last February as well. He was rated the No. 12 prep tight end in the nation by Rivals, while Tapko was No. 25.
[...]
"OU returns senior tight ends James Hanna and Trent Ratterree. Both have starting experience, and Hanna is coming off a seven-touchdown season. Austin Haywood, who played mostly on special teams as a freshman, is the Sooners' third tight end."
