OU Restricts Meet the Sooners Day Autographs

Oklahoma football players “and coaches will sign autographs at Meet the Sooners Day Aug. 6, but only for those 14 years old and younger,” the Tulsa World reports.

“OU announced the stricter policy Thursday to control an event that had become almost impossible to manage.

“For several years, fans all of all ages had showed up hours before the start of the 90-minute event. Combine impossibly long lines with intense heat and the reality that not everyone would get signatures, and you could almost count on some fans leaving the scene angrily.

“The fact that this year's event is scheduled for a Saturday, and not a weekday as in the past, makes it that much trickier to handle.”

Adults may still “attend the event – the revised rule is a maximum of one adult per child – but they can no longer ask for autographs.”

There will also be a location change.

“Autographs will now be given on the practice fields just outside Memorial Stadium, as opposed to the rugby fields west of the Lloyd Noble Center.”
