Sporting News Predicts Big Season for Sooners

Sporting News projects that OU, their preseason No. 2 team, will win the Big 12 this year and go undefeated in the regular season.

They say the Sooners “have an elite quarterback in Landry Jones; explosive skill players on both sides of the ball; still the best roster balance west of the Mississippi; and, of course, Bob Stoops, who stands in charge of it all—with a terrific shot at long-awaited national title No. 2.”

Despite this projection, Sporting News says they realize “it’s more likely than not the Sooners will lose a game somewhere along the line.” But they have a high degree of confidence that OU “will play in a BCS game.”
