Senior defensive end Frank Alexander “has been named a finalist for the 2011 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award,” according to an official release.
Alexander “leads the Big 12 with 8.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss and is one of six finalists for the award.”
“Alexander has a total of 51 tackles this season along with six pass break-ups, three forced fumbles, seven quarterback hurries, one interception returned for 27 yards and one fumble recovery.”
Other finalists “for the award include Clemson's Andre Branch, Marshall's Vinny Curry, Illinois' Whitney Mercilus, LSU's Sam Montgomery and USC's Nick Perry.”
