News 9’s Dean Blevins is reporting that Mike Stoops will rejoin OU’s coaching staff as soon as this week.
“As first reported in December, sources close to the OU program have confirmed to News 9 Sports Director Dean Blevins that Mike Stoops will re-join the OU coaching staff this week.
“He will return as the secondary coach and co-defensive coordinator, also responsible for calling plays for the defense.
“Sources tell Dean that defensive coordinator Brent Venables and assistant coordinator Bobby Jack Wright are fully on board with the decision.”
Current defensive backs coach Willie Martinez is expected to take a job elsewhere, thus opening up a spot for Mike Stoops.
