Taylor McNamara Cleared by NCAA

Freshman tight end Taylor McNamara “on Wednesday was finally allowed by the NCAA to enroll in classes,” according to The Oklahoman.

“McNamara learned Jan. 17, the day the spring semester began, that one of his high school classes had been flagged by the NCAA. He and his family, who were staying for a time in a hotel while it was worked out, had to submit more paperwork to ensure the credibility of the work completed earlier in the month.

“McNamara said last week he was hopeful the matter would be resolved by Monday, at the latest. He received word Wednesday.

“The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Californian, the only high school player to enroll early at OU, is expected to immediately help the Sooners on offense. Because of defections and graduation, Oklahoma returns no tight ends with any playing experience.”
