Peterson Commits to Sooners

Cornerback Kevin Peterson (Wagoner High School – Oklahoma) has “verbally committed to Oklahoma,” according to the Tulsa World.

“During his visit to Norman this weekend, Peterson met with coach Bob Stoops and committed Sunday morning after discussing it with his parents

“’It really hasn’t hit me yet,’ Peterson said. ‘It’s kind of like a big burden off my chest.’

“A finalist for the Tulsa World’s Metro Football Player of the Year and winner of KTUL’s Ford Award, Peterson received the offer from Stoops after leading the Bulldogs to their first state championship two weeks ago.”

Some stats from Peterson’s senior season:

“Defensively, Peterson’s contributions this season led to six shutouts, including 23-0 in the Class 4A title game against Clinton.

“At running back, he averaged 11.8 yards per carry while rushing for nearly 1,400 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also played at punt and kick returner and Wildcat quarterback.

“At 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, Peterson is a state track champion, having won the 100 and 200 in the spring.”
